Shay Mitchell is Canadian actress,model and entrepreneur. She is best known for her role as Emily Fields in the Freeform series Pretty Little Liars. In Toronto she was enrolled in acting classes after having success in dancing and modeling. After securing a few commercials as well as guest roles on the television seriesMitchell got her big breakthrough when she was chosen as Emily Fields in Pretty Little Liars. Both critics and her fans praised the quality of her performance. Her career on screen started with the films Dreamland, Mother's Day and The Possession of Hannah Grace. She was the daughter of Filipino immigrants while her father was of Irish and Scottish roots. Mitchell's cousin has the name of Lea Salonga who is a well-known musical theater singer and actress. When she was a kid, Mitchell attended Rockridge Secondary after which she transferred to West Vancouver Secondary School. In her late teen years, Mitchell had been employed by various modeling firms around the world. After a trip through Barcelona, Bangkok and Hong Kong she returned to Toronto and studied acting.
