Maureen FitzSimons' early achievements in performing arts (now called Maureen O'Hara), would put her in America's eyes, into the class of child prodigies. These traits were natural for an Irish-born child surrounded by gifted parents and a loving family. Maureen was born in Ranelagh which was a suburb in Dublin the capital of Ireland on the 17th of August 1920. Marguerita Lilburn fitzSimons' mother was a contralto. Charles FitzSimons owned the Shamrock Rovers soccer club in Ireland. He also owned a Dublin business. Maureen was the third of six FitzSimons children - Peggy, Florrie, Charles B. Fitzsimons, Margot Fitzsimons and James O'Hara completed this beautiful family. Maureen enjoyed playing athletic games as a child and excelled in sports. Her passion was coupled with an unnatural talent for performing. Her winning of almost all Feis awards for her native nation's theatre and drama proved this. When she turned 14, the Abbey Theater accepted her and let her live her dream in classical theater and singing opera.
